    Battery Question

I just bought a 2005 216 and the battery is due for replacement. It's has a decent stereo, but I'm not sure our family won't use it like most people. We'll listen to it casually and maybe a little while we swim a bit. The kiddos (7 & 9) already ski, but they're wanting to get into wakeboarding too. We may go heavier on the stereo use then. I suppose time will tell, but it's probably going to be sooner than later.

Anyway, if I can I'd like to stay with one battery for now and was looking for recommendations. I've seen people recommend a deep cycle group 29, but was wondering if that's alright to use as a primary cranking battery.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

A group 29 will give you the most Ah for the $$$, if you are going to only have one battery. That will also be a great house battery for when you go to a dual battery setup with a dedicated cranking.

For one battery, I'd go with the Die Hard Platinum Marine group 31 with 1150 CCAs and 92-100 AHs. They are not cheap, but they are on sale right now at Sears. I run with two of these. They are the same AGMs as the military spec Odysseys. Get the 31 not the 34.

Make sure they screwed the binding posts into the right hole though. I bought one and had to bring it back because some yahoo at the factory screwed the negative binding post into the positive hole and vice versa, and they are different diameters where the battery cable connects, so it matters.
