86 SN 2001 Bogging in the hole and cruising

    Hey Guys,

I just got a 86 2001 with 330 hrs. The thing is in great shape. On the 4th out she started to miss a little above 3500. The next time out she ran like a top for a few hours then started bogging out of the hole and under cruising. I've done a few things since but every time the same issue. She runs great for an hour then acts up.

    Trouble shooting so far:

    1. New points, condenser, rotor, cap wires and plug with timing and dwell. Same thing.

    2. Right side wires resting on exhaust manifold. Tested two out of wack and changed and repositioned. Same thing.

    3. Changed fuel filter. Same thing.

    4. Ran carb cleaner an octane boost with full tank of 91. Same thing.

My next guess is the rebuilding the carb but the first hour every time running great has me a little hesitant.

Maybe, its the distributer getting too hot. It's the only thing I can think of that I havent checked. A few dops of oil on the pad then replacing if it doesnt work?

    Any one have a thought?

    Thank you in advance.

You may want to replace your coil. When they get weak and then get hot they can cause problems.

I changed the coil out. Now she runs perfect all day. So far I got 15 hours in two days. No issues.

          Thanks guys!
