supersport ballast question

Hi All,

since the beginning of this summer I am the proud owner of supersport (96). I also frequently ride on a 2005 sante 210 with only stock ballast.

As I learned from this site the hulls are identical to each other. I have tried to copy the stock ballast setup, but can't really get that 'vert wake' of the sante. I have 2 v-drive launchpads (2 *350 LBS) in the back
and about 250 of lead in the skilocker (actually 175 in the skilocker and 75 under the back seat.

Does anybody have any suggestions ? I am thinking of replacing the lead in the skilocker with a locker sack (300-350 LBS).

Hi Willem-Jan,

I think you have to less weight up front. A SANTE has about 260lbs in each back locker and about 350 in the skilocker. So I would suggest a 540 fat sack in the skilocker with the 350's in the back would be perfect!

Somewhere like I mentioned. About 500 in front and 300 in each back locker. In this way the wake was more then enough for us with 4-5 people.

I recently purchased 2- 440lb sacs for the v-drive compartment and one 580lb for the ski locker and the wake was really big and pronounced. I have a 1995 SS.

2-350lb Launchpad's in the rear, Skylon 600lb in the center. Two 65lb lead bars on each side in the rear (under the sacs), so a total of 260lbs of lead in the back. Two 65lb lead bars in the interior to move around. 1700lbs total + people and gear ~ 2500lbs

Hey wviveen, to get that steep, peaky "vert" wake from your SS you'll want to bias your weight more to the rear than center or front. In my experience, moving weight bias more toward the front will make a more user-friendly wake and more of a ramp. Weighting it heavier in the stern turns the wake into the infamous SAN "wall," notorious for bucking n00bs on their heads!

From your description it sounds like you definitely have the rearward bias, but you don't have the hull sunk quite enough overall. The ski locker would be ideal if you could get the overall weight up to around 1400lbs.

I have a '95SS with 450's in the back and a 750 in the locker. All of these were purchased from Get High Sports and they fit perfect. Give them a look at www.gethighsports.com they were good people to work with. This setup throws a really nice wake, my friend uses the same setup in his SS as well.

Fly high has some nice quality sacs with quick connect fittings. The stock rear seat bottom sac (680 lbs) fits perfectly in my ski locker. Check it out at www.barefootinternational.com They are a little pricey, but it was the only one that had the correct dimensions for my ski locker. You can also get custom ones that take 3-4 weeks at boardersparadise.com

I already had the idea that the total amount of weight should be increased a little. I will try to get a
locker sack shortly and try it out.

I have a '97 Super Sport and I put a 440 lb. sac on each side of the engine, a custom sac in the middle ski locker that fills to around 750 lbs. and then I have 120 lbs. of lead up in the nose. Here is the best picture I have of my wake. It's not the best pic, but you get the idea. I love my wake and it's plenty big enough to do about anything you want. This is riding at 75' going 21.5 MPH and there is 3 people in the boat. Hope this helps.
