Depth Finder Replacement

Im replacing my Teleflex depth finder with a Hawkeye depth finder. Can I use the existing shoot through hull puck if its just the Teleflex guage that is bad? Saves me time and gluing the new puck down in the hull,,I have heard it can be a PIA finding the right location for placement.
