If I pull them at the ramp before we drive home I got a decent amount of water out of everything. Except the heat exchanger, almost no water ever from it.

If I pull them at home then I get much less water from all the plugs. But still some water out of everything, except the heat exchanger.

I usually end up draining the water a few times each fall and spring. So I do not want to deal with keeping several gallons of antifreeze on hand. Thank god the closed cooling has antifreeze in the heater lines. Draining the heater was always the worst part.

Agreed. I was so pleased that the heater had AF and not raw water. I wish they would convert everything to AF and have a bigger heat exchanger and the only part that saw raw water besides the exchanger was the exhaust. I am not sure why they still prefer water for the transmission. Perhaps the EPA/Coast Guard require water in the transmission to decrease the risk of AF contamination of the environment due to coolant leakage from the cooled prop shaft thru-hull.

I was correct. If you get the inline radiator drain that I linked previously the same 1/4" valve in the link for the manifold fits.

This is really great info. Thank you.

I did get a little water out of everything, however as stated it was very very minimal so i was wondering if it was even worth it as some plugs are very difficult to get to. Especially since the 2 winters done by my dealer they didn't even bother to drain these. I am guessing draining them more thoroughly means less anti-freeze is required?

I do not believe either of my 2 last dealers ever drained the raw water coolant system for freeze protection. They simply bring the engine up to temp then run AF through the system to flush out any water as it is much faster and easier.

I converted my drainage points to hoses with valves simply to make it easier to ride/use the boat during the freezing months without having to run gallons of AF through it each time.

            vision,

That is great news. I am more concerned with my own work and knowing that I did it properly. When people started talking draining these questioned whether I had done something wrong ..... Would be super frightening to find a cracked block next spring

I definitely think your idea would be the best for faster winterization. I was thinking of something like that myself, but as previously mentioned if dealers are not even doing these drains I was just going to do the major ones and run a ton of anti-freeze through to save time.

            Thanks for sharing!
