    Plain ethanol-free versus Marina gas

I've always used gas from the marina (on the water). However, when the boats on the trailer is there any difference in using the gas at the marina versus the ethanol – free pump at the gas station? It is cheaper but that's not the driving factor for me - it's convenience.

Also any thoughts on storing the boat full or empty for the winter? It will of course be winterized properly.

This may start a long thread. IMO Ethanol is crap. If you are burning it right away (within a week or two) you are probably ok. I always use Ethanol free in my boat and small engines. Ethanol is barely noticeable when factoring in reduction on foreign oil dependency, and it actually makes your vehicle/boat less efficient, which means that you have to buy more gallons of fuel. What's attached to a gallon of fuel? Taxes.... I'm not saying there is a plot to make more $$$ on the Government's part, but I think we are being taxed too much. I would rather pay more for ethanol free... It's a shame that Ethanol free is more expensive.
I would store it with 2/3 of a tank, and even with ethanol free - use a good quality fuel stabilizer. I would NOT store it with any ethanol fuel. And if you used ethanol, I would fill up with ethanol free and run the boat for a while under normal operating conditions to be sure that the fuel in the system is not ethanol based. Ethanol ruined a high pressure pump in my 05 SAN. (completely corroded it) That was per PCM upon examining it.

Ethanol free is ethanol free no matter where you buy it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the only difference in the ethanol free auto vs marina is the price. And I believe the price comes from more taxes on the water because of Enviromental taxes and stuff.

It is state dependent, but in most states non-highway use gas, including gas sold at marinas, is not subject to highway tax, but is subject to sales tax. The end result is that taxation of gas sold at marinas is generally less than gas sold for for automobiles. The high price of gas at marinas is for convenience.
