    2008 210 water leak.

Can anyone throw me some ideas.

I have a substantial leak. Enough to run the bilge pump every 10-15 minutes. So, one would assume a leak this big would be fairly obvious. Here's what I know...

    1. If I fill the bilge with 3-4" of water on the trailer not one single drop of water hits the ground.

    2. So I run the boat for 5 minutes on the garden hose. Bilge remains completely dry.

    3. I am now suspicious of the shaft seal so I seal up the gap between shaft and stern tube base to create pressure in the bellow and run it on the hose again. Still no leaks.

    4. When the boat is in the water the rudder area is dry and the leak appears to come from under the engine.

    5. I got a friend to drive the boat at around 2000 rpm to pitch it up so the water would flow to the stern and perhaps I coil see a leak from the bellow. But I couldn't.

    Any ideas?

There numerous places it could be coming from the trick to locating it is make sure you have a dry bilge eliminate one thing at a time eg ballast, rudder, shaft seal, etc etc

Mine turned out to be the rudder it only tickled in at idle but under power with the added forces and prop wash it pissed in.

I had a similar problem with an American Skier, the leak was where the deck and the hull mate. That seam is covered by the rub rail and should have a sealer in in. My sealer came out so water would come in at low to mid speed.

I had a similar issue with my Super Air 210. Had the shaft packing and rudder packing replaced, and tightened up the intake vents for the ballast system and it 100% fixed the issue.
