Can anyone throw me some ideas.
I have a substantial leak. Enough to run the bilge pump every 10-15 minutes. So, one would assume a leak this big would be fairly obvious. Here's what I know...
1. If I fill the bilge with 3-4" of water on the trailer not one single drop of water hits the ground.
2. So I run the boat for 5 minutes on the garden hose. Bilge remains completely dry.
3. I am now suspicious of the shaft seal so I seal up the gap between shaft and stern tube base to create pressure in the bellow and run it on the hose again. Still no leaks.
4. When the boat is in the water the rudder area is dry and the leak appears to come from under the engine.
5. I got a friend to drive the boat at around 2000 rpm to pitch it up so the water would flow to the stern and perhaps I coil see a leak from the bellow. But I couldn't.
Any ideas?
