Most intense scariest mod I've done to date but so so so worth every penny and every hole I drilled into her!!!
No idea if they work as surf tabs yet, I imagine they wouldn't, they will have an effect I'm sure but won't work like the MC gen 2 but will try it and report.
But OMG they help the boat plane so so well and is why I did it. I run a 1235 prop already and that does ok but there is a fine line with how much rear weight I can run and get on plane. Today I filled all my rear weight(stock plus 750 bags) front tank and arrow. Had 50lbs lead in nose and a 50lb lead bag on the front tank under the hatch(perfect spot for 1 bag). Normally to get on plane in a decent amount of time I have to also move about 200lb more lead to the front and boat still very slow to plane. Today I left 400 lbs in rear and boat planned in about the same time as it did with full stock maybe a tad slower. Almost zero bow rise. Tried to get up like this without deploying tabs and it wouldn't get over 12mph! And the wake was rocking!!!! I'm sure I can run even more and plane out now no problem.
Next mod is to figure out how to turn this into a autolaunch system! I have some ideas but it involves way to many relays! The hardest part about doing this other than getting the guts to drill into the hull was figuring out how to deal with the rounded transom on our boats and the flat surface required to mount the tabs. I overcame this issue using some composite shims. I used the belt sander to take them down to basically zero at the start of the shim.
I'd highly recommend this to anyone wanting to run heavy. Running more tail weight adds a very nice lip! Loving my Nauti wake again!
