I have a 2011 SN 200 OB with a PCM CES/MPI EX3435.7L engine. I know the PCM manual calls for the primary fuel filter and the filter in the FCC to be replaced each year. Whenever I change the FCC filter it looks new. This year when I changed the primary filter I decided to tear it apart and examine the filter membrane. It also was mostly clean (145 hrs). How often do these filters really need to be changed? Should I wait till I have an engine performance problem?

Cost of a high pressure fuel pump, clogged injectors, and a week of the boat at the shop trying to fix it is pretty ugly compared to a simple fuel filter replacement. You should be draining the FCC annually to remove any water so just go the extra minor step and replace the filter.
