Fresh water system flush

For those with fresh water cooling systems, such as on a ZR6, what's the procedure for flushing and replacing the coolant? The PCM manual reccomends flushing and replacing the coolant every 5 years along with an inspection of the heat exchanger for sediment buildup. Anyone done this themselves?
