Our 89, 2001 with a 351 PCM motor (530 hrs) started running hot last week. the temp got up to 200 on the gauge before I shut her down. After replacing both the impellor and thermostat she still runs warm at around 180 (normal range was at 160). Any suggestions?

Running Hot
Did you add any accessory that would draw a decent amount of power from the elec system? The more power that is drawn, the higher the gauge reads. On my 90 if I turn the heater on the gauge reads about 10 degrees higher. Just throwing it out there in case.

RE: Re: Running Hot
I just went through the same thing. I replaced the temp sending unit.... It now shows 140. Use to run at 160 for the past four years. Before replacing the sender it shot up to 200. I did everything you did with the same results. I also have added an extra ground wire to the guages as well as a new 10 guage wire to the ignition switch. This solved my temp jumping when turning on elec acc.sigpic
