OVERHEATING 04 SKI

Friend has a 04 Ski, 330 hp Excalabur. Will run a steady 175 but bump up to over 200 at the end of a pass. Replaced impeller(boat has 100 hrs on it), no change in symptoms.
All hoses and trans cooler clean. Dealer leaning towards head gasket. Anybody else have this sort of problem?

There was an issue with bad thermostats in some of the '04 boats from the factory, but I would think that would have been caught and replaced by now if that was the problem. Judging by your location, you've got a great dealer, and I'm sure they'll get it fixed up quickly.

is there an o-ring in the water strainer bowl? Were there blades missing from the last impeller? They could still be in the lines clogging things up.

No, the old impeller was a little weak, but no pieces missing. O ring is in the strainer bowl, does not appear to have any leaks in the cooling system. The last reply mentioned a faulty thermostat, sounds correct. It is at the dealer now, so hopefully will get it back this week. Until then, will have to ski on my old 99 SNOB>

It was the thermostat. Dealer got it fixed today. Back on the water this weekend! :grin:
