alternator upgrade for Pre-2005 nautiques

Last week I talked to WCCC, and they said that they are pushing PCM for a 100amp Alternator upgrade kit, that would be warrantied. They have a 210 owner in there now pushing for it, and I was a second. If they get more interest they may push harder, so all you guys with the 65amp units and big stereo's , give them a call.

Frankly, if you have a team, and have all three ballast pumps running as well as the engine blower, and music, you will see that the load is already to great for the pre-2005 stocker. Voltage get's pulled down under 12V.

This is the next job we need to do! Engine running, lights on and music cranked = a lot less than 12 volts! I'm taking the batteries home on a regular basis to recharge at the moment, we need 100Amps output ours is 50amps at present, '01 Air Nautique.

Count me in. In my 01 AIR, my stereo system pulls 2 blue top optimas down while running.

Correct craft does have a 100 amp upgrade kit. I went thru WCCC and ordered it. It was $300 and came with a 100 amp alt. and larger wire to the starter. I installed it at the beginning of the summer. It works great...keeping 3 Optimas charged with 3 amps(1800 watts rms). Its installed in an '01 SAN (GT40), but I think its just the current alt. there using for the current line of boats. I still have the paper work and kit #'s if anybody is interested. I toyed with the idea of a larger 150 amp alt, but West Coast said this is the only one that CC will warranty.

What all did you have to do to install it Giddyup?? I plan on eventually installing a pretty good stereo setup, probably in the neighborhood of 1000 Watts RMS total and at least three batteries. I would love to know anything you can tell us about the conversion. Did you need to switch out any fuses?? Wiring Harnesses??

I have an 02 with the Excalibur and 2 belt setup.

I have the single belt GT40. Its been a couple of months since I installed it, but it was pretty much plug and play. I do remember that you no longer use the breaker. I'll look at the install instructions again tonight at home and give an update tomarrow. The only hard thing about it was the cramped space you have to work in on a V-drive. I also installed a Perko switch at that time as well. Mike.

The kit # is RF097009A.
1. DISCONNECT BATT.
2. REMOVE EXISTING ALT.
3. REMOVE ORANGE WIRE FROM 60 AMP BREAKER.
4. REMOVE AND REPLACE V-BELT PULLEY(SUPPLIED)
5. INSTALL NEW GROUND WIRE TO ALT.(SUPPLIED)
6. INSTALL NEW POS. CABLE TO ALT(SUPPLIED)
7. SPLICE GREEN WIRE INTO ALT PIGTAIL.
8. MOUNT ALT USING EXISTING BRACKET.
DONE.

This is the diluted version of the instructions that came with the kit, but that is about all thats involved...pretty simple. It took about 2 hours with the perko install. The kit come with a diagram as well. Brice and Mark were both a lot of help at WCCC. Mike
