    Delay in Starting

I have a 2001 SAN. Does anyone else have a delay from when you push the button until the boat starts? This delay typically occurs when the boat has sat for a few days, and then we go to start it. In order to get the motor to turn over we have to jiggle the throttle (to find neutral), in order for the boat to start.

Also, I have had the boat stall twice while we were running. Typically I have to push in the running C/B to make the boat stay running. Like I said this has only happened twice all this year spaced out by 3 months, but I suppose it is a concern. Anyone else experienced this?

    RE: Delay in Starting

I've got a 2000 SN with a PCM and had similar issues with a start-delay, especially after running the blowers. It sounds like the starter relay may be showing the initial signs of going out. Its about a $22 part. Mine continued to work for a little while before I started experiencing no starts. It's worth the hour time it takes to replace it. If jiggling the throttle helps (causes) it to start, it may not be the relay, but if jiggling the throttle simply coincides with starting and it ultimately starts without jiggling it, I'd lay money it's the relay and not a throttle-neutral issue.
