Oil Filters

What does everyone use for their oil filters on their boats (with warranties). Do I have use a PCM filter for warranty reasons? I believe it is a Fram PH5 filter, but correct me if I am wrong.

I'd be curious to see what everyone uses for oil. I'm going to follow the manual's guide lines. But suggestions are welcome.

Fram filters are junk. I wouldn't put one on my lawn mower.

Use a MotorCraft FL-1A or non-Fram equivalent.

Motercraft FL-1A is what my dealer reccommends. Not a member of the Fram club on anything.

Stick with FL-1a. Real good article on wakeworld last year about the different brands if you feel like searching.

Motorcraft was stocked by most auto parts stores and Walmart but they are getting harder to find. I think Ford must be throwing a bone back to the dealers to help them out. Go to your Ford delaers and ask for a discount. Stock price is $7.50 local dealer sold to me for $4.50.

Purolator is a good/excellent quality filter and readily available. Purolator is the OEM supplier for BMW (FWIW). I believe the articles referenced above give the Purolator high marks.

The AC-Delco oil filters are very good quality, and the AC-Delco PF-2 is the equivalent size to the Motorcraft FL1A. Besides, I can't bring myself to put a Ford filter on my GM engine!

I hate Fram, but my dealer slaped on on there at the last oil change. I plan to change it to a purolator, but have just been too lazy recently, plus I haven't put more than 3 hours on it since the change.
