Perfect Pass Settings

I've been messing around with my perfect pass the last few times I've had the boat out and I'm going nuts. My perfect pass works awesome in RPM mode but varies far too much in speed mode. I checked and replaced the paddlewheel and figure the only thing left is the tuning parameters. I've covered a wide range of values for the KDW and NN and still can't find the sweet spot. Can anyone recommend settings that I can try?

Which prop is on your boat? Is your boat a Team edition? Which engine do you have?

I have had the same experience with PP, but I am sure my cause is the prop on my boat. My boat was built as a Limited, and I have upgraded it to a Team, except for the prop. I now carry around about 800 pounds of lead, plus the 850 factory ballast, and my PP goes crazy in the turns. The best setting that I have found is 80 and 180, and my new Acme 644 (ordering tonight from Mid-Ohio) should correct the rest of my issues.

I have the same prop that I had on my old '01 SAN. My last boat the perfect pass in speed mode worked perfectly so I know it can work with that prop. I can't even get it to hold speed in a stragiht line.. much less a turn! I'll try your settings and cross my fingers. I have the excalibur 330 in this boat... GT-40 in my last one.

You can calibrate the speed while in speed mode. You will have to input a positive/negative value if you want to go faster/slower. It takes a couple of entries before you get it to go at the exact time. You can calibrate the speed with a GPS or if you have a course with magnets, with a timer.

When you are in speed mode, PP will increase the speed as you are turning. This is because with the same amount of throttle into a turn, you are going much slower than on a straight path. The sharper the turn, the greater the loss in speed. Remember, you are telling the system to go at a determined speed so if there is a decrease in speed due to the turn, the system will increase throttle until the speed on the setting is achieved.

You will not notice this change when you are in RPM since the boat is not sensing speed and you are maintaining the same RPM's on a straight path or into the turn. You will notice the difference in speed though, slowing down when you are turning.

If you want to try it, select speed mode and make a wide turn, you will hardly notice an increase in RPM. Now make a sharper turn and watch the RPM's (or fine-tune your hearing and hear the engine :grin: ), they will increase. Try a turn while in speed mode and on a 175' wide course and you are in for some for some serious increase in speed. Be careful with who you are pulling as if they are on the outside of the wake as you turn, they will pick up a lot of speed.
