    boat mirror

Any preferance for boat mirrors. Just starting the research and would like to know what every ones experience with them is.

How do the suction cup ones work?

You mount your on the drivers side or on the Passenger side?

    I have seen both.

steelerguy, I prefer the CIPA Comp, which is what most towboats come with as standard equipment, mounted just to the right of center, drivers side. Mike

      RE: Re: boat mirror

I had the Comp, and now use the Extreme. Mounted on the drivers side using the Mako mount (doesn't require a special bracket) and I love it. I can sit down in the seat and see under the mirror just fine.
If you are one of those that must sit on top of the seat or bolster to see over the bow, then you will most likely want it on the passenger (observer) side.

        Stellerguy,

Get a tower mounted mirror, you won't regret the money spent.
Sits high enough that you can see everything. Peoples heads
don't get in the way. Mirror doesn't get in the way when you open
the walkthrough. My cover slips right under the mirror. Talked
my brother into buying one and he has told me it was the best
$100 bucks he has spent on his boat. We use the Cipa mirrors,
but it is the mount which really matters.

I have a tower mounted mirror on the driver side. The visibility works fine no matter where you sit. My only problem with it is that it comes loose non stop. The allen wrench screws just don't work that great and i can't seem to get it to stay put. I believe its a wake designs mirror but i'm not sure.

I'm not quite sure. I took it off and inspected the area where the allen wrench bolts meet the metal rod that the mirror is on and it had been kinda worn down already and the mirror is new on an 05 boat. I moved the metal rod out some so the screws weren't screwing into a worn out area and that worked temporarily. It might be coming lose on the socket wrench bolt that holds the mirror onto the rod. I'm not quite sure. Either way its frustrating.
