    Tach Problem

I have a 1997 ski with the bottom swing tach with the built in hour meter the problem is that it says 500 or more rpm's that is should say like at idle it says 1200 or so but really its 750 on perfect pass... the other day it when sking @ 36 it was saying 6000 rpms than it kicked down where it should be but than it will be wrong again anyone have any ideas or have this problem?

    thanks

My uncle's 94 does that occasionally. Just turn your key off and back on to reset the thing.

Check the connection on the back side of the gauge.

Sound like a normal teleflex gauge before it is ready to quit.

I noticed the exact same problem on my 97 Ski when I bought it 5 months ago. I have since installed Perfect Pass, so I can say with confidence that the connections on the back of the tach are clean and solid. I am now leaning towards the faulty gauge theory.

nms1991, you sound like you have had some experience with these tachs, is this type of failure common with these?
