    Reset hour meter?

I have a question... is it possible to reset the hour meter on faria gauges? I just found out that a boat we had 16 hours on before a trip had the key left on. It now has 157 hours on it before the batteries died.

Which model of boat se or limited? normally you cannot reset the hour meter in the boat except if you replace the gauge, on the limited faria gauges it receives the hours from the motors ecm and it unchangeable unless you replace the ecm.

It is actually not mine. It is a friends Tige, and my girl left the key on. So... I feel bad. May have to buy him a new tach.

I do not feel as bad today knowing it went from 116 to 157.

Two options that I can think of doing:

          1) Simply disconnect the tach/hour meter for 41 hours of run time.
          2) Do item one AND purchase a cheap hour meter that you can connect and help you keep track of the 41 hours. When the new meter reads 41 hours, remove it and reconnect the original hour meter.

Not sure if I've seen a Tige make it to 157 hours. Just kidding.

Wow, they read the hours when just the key is on?

Ask if the owner ever leaves the key on to listem to the music. If he does, then it is all a moot point as the hours are not accurate to begine with.

Some of the older CCs did this as well (particularly those before
radios were put in from the factory).

My 95 counts hours if I leave the key on.............I found that out while working on it for weeks on end in my garage.

I have an industrial hour meter sitting on my workbench at home, you can have that if you want to do what DavidF suggests.

Available to anybody else for free for that matter, I just can't bring myself to throw it in the trash and I am tired of looking at it. It's probably left over from when my father built his Keaton in the garage in 1967... he probably kept it and moved it between garages for 35 years because he couldn't bring himself to throw it in the trash. Guess it's hereditary.

                    first posted request gets it...

Previous owner put on about 120 extra hours on the meter in my 94 because it was hooked up to the radio.

Love those old Keatons. Some of the first Fiberglass ski boats I ever saw.
I've seen them in jets, I/Os, and inboards. Still a couple around on the delta.

Sometime in the life of my '93 SN, the ignition switch was replaced with a three position switch (i.e. turn left for accessories). I wire my radio to this terminal. Hence the hour meter does not run when just listening to the radio.

Thanks DavidF you are always so diplomatic, didnt even metion it was an automotive ignition, it might have been was a long time ago. My current stereo is on a hot lead so it doesnt need the key either, just ignition button on.
