    BENT PYLON..???

    i have a 86 2001 sn.

the center pylon is not straight, i have heard both ways that it should or shouldnt be.
at the same time i have compared mine to another pic on a website and it does look as though mine may be excessively bent.

what is the correct angle if any ???

and at what angle should the boat be while making this check.

i was thinking of the hull being level then checking the pylon.
i am trying to do this in my driveway in lie of on the water.

    thanks in advance for support

It's VERY hard to bend a pylon (unless towing an RV, House, pulling stumps, etc....). Suggest u chek the "foot" laminated into the floor into which the pylon seats. Is it loose &/or the fiberglass cracked around the base? Also, could the bolts holding it to the eng. frame (if done back then) be loose or torqued?

I think that on that model SN, the pylon is in fact bent towards the rear of the boat. If your's is bent at the bottom with a lean towards the rear, its normal.

I have a SN 2001 and the pylon is supposed to be "bent" back toward the motor box.

I agree, it's suppose to be bent.

And the angle of your floor doesn't matter if you're going to measure the angle of the pole. The pole is attached to the floor not the ground. Even if the floor was at a 45 degree angle, the pole would still be, I dunno 4-5 degrees, probably not that much, leaning back.
