    Back Seat Removal

My gas guage needle is irratic swinging back and forth and doesnt show an accuarate amount of fuel in the Tank. So im looking to change the relay. Being as it located on the tank, I need to remove the back seat cushions to get to it. Also with winter coming I would like to grease the Rudder and cable back there. How do i get to it all. How do you safely remove the back seat?

    RE: Back Seat Removal

Steelerguy, On my 97 sport there are 2 pins on the bottom sides, you might have to reach under the gunnels to feel for them then pull the bottom seat toward the front of the boat and then just lift up the rear on the seat. There is also a cover between the seat and fuel tank. Less then 5 minutes to remove.

      RE: Back Seat Removal

On my 93 Sport there are two hand-turn bolts under the two side seats that you simply unscrew and lift the whole seat out. My seats flip forward but I don't know if yours do the same. Hopefully someone that owns the older model will chime in if different.

        RE: Back Seat Removal

my 1990 Ski has a backseat that just lifts out. if you open the seat cushion, you might see two handles inside on the plastic right near the floor near each outside edge of the boat. Then just lift straight up. the only other piece is a small metal bracket that just guides the seat along the rear of the boat.

from the pics i've seen the Sport might have the same seat.... but maybe not.

          Bingo! Daryl,

All I had to do was carefully lift straight up. There is only one bracket directly in the back holding the seat in place. It was heavy but after Sky Sking all summer my back is like a rock. So looking at the tank I could see I had 1 inch of gas the hole way across. I guess the Gas gage works when its empty but bounces when its full. I took out the sending unit and it was corroted (sp) and will need to be replaced. 20 bucks for a universal from the parts store, I will call Mid Ohio on monday to compare. Thanks for all who chimed in. Man Do i like working on Nautiques. They thought of everything. Super easy!s
