I have less than 25 hours on my 05 SV 211. It has the 5.7 motor and has overheated a total of 4 different times. It has a heater and normally runs around 175 degrees. It seems that after I idle for a while in no wake areas and then throttle down to cruising speed 30MPH, the boat will jump up in temp (over 200) and overheat. The first time we smelled smoke and thought it was the boat ahead and then determined it was ours. Opened the hatch to find the starboard exhaust tube was sucked tight together and water was boiling in the tube. Took to dealer and had them check thermostat, impeller, filter basket and exhaust. The replaced exhaust but I am still having the problem. Both manifolds still get hot to the touch and it seems as the starboard manifold is always hotter than portside. Still at the dealer after two weeks of working on it and they are looking at replacing the manifolds and exhaust again. Anyone else had this problem? Should I be worried about damage this may have caused to the motor as it only had 15 hours on the first time it happened?

RE: 2005 SV 211- Overheating
Have you checked all of the easy things?
- All hose connectors tight
Water strainer tightened enough
Water strainer O-Ring in place
Impeller shaft not separated from the rubber/neoprene
Water pump not installed backwards
Thermostat not stuck closed (that's my personal guess here)
Even with the thermostat stuck closed, some water should have still been circulating through the manifolds. Some of the early '05 PCM engines had issues with the thermostats getting stuck, but they usually stuck open, causing low engine temps.
