Anyone ever have a tach needle stick on an 2002 Air - mine is at 900?

I am going to resurrect this old post. Yesterday I noticed the Faria tach on my 02 196 was hovering at about 2000 RPM at idle (my PerfectPass was reading normal in the 700 range). When I would accelerate to pull my wife skiing it would jump up to 4000+ RPMs. So it was like the whole thing was calibrated off. PP and boat are running just fine. I gave it a few taps and it seemed to go back to being normal but she only took one ski set so I didn't get a chance to mess with it anymore.
I haven't pulled the dash apart but is there anything I can clean on the terminals to make sure this doesn't happen again. Its more of a pet-peeve.

The tach on my boat stuck one day this season when my wife was pulling me. After my set she asked if it was normal to read 4000rpm when running about 21mph. I said know got behind the wheel to pull her, noticed rpm did not match up to PP readings. Gave a couple taps needle fell back to proper range.
