HAS ANYONE GOT ANY BAD NEW ON A 1999 PRO AIR

I am thinking of buying a 1999 pro air nautique. Has anyone heard anything bad about this boat/year.

The boat has a 310hp and reaches 46mph. Would a 330 engine be quicker?

My opinion is that the 310hp GT-40 is quicker and more powerful than the 330hp Excalibur, probably more low-end grunt than the ZR6 too.

The GT-40 has more grunt than the Excalibur and equals the ZR6 until you get higher in the rpm range. I don't think the GT-40 is faster than the Excalibur, though. My 206 runs about three mph faster than my 99Snob with the GT-40. (May have something to do with the hull design, though.)

The only thing negative I've heard about the pro air is that it's not very good for waterskiing as compared to the sport/air nautique.

Only made the pro air for about three years. Demand wasn't there. Most
people buying a wakeboard specific boat were going with the VDrive.

          1999 PRO AIR

HAVE A 1999 PRO AIR NAUTIQUE, WITH THE PHYTON 8.1L ENGINE. GREAT BOAT WITH PLENTY OF POWER TO DRIVE THE BOAT IWHEN IT IS FULLY LOADED, PRODUCING A SUPERB WAKE.
WOULD BE INTERESTED IN AN ENGINE MANUAL IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN GET ONE?

I also own a 99 pro air with the GT-40. We have also upgraded to a newer style FCT.

I have ridden behind an air, pro air, and super air nautiques. The wakeboard wake of the pro is definatly better than the air and is comparable to the super when weighted right.

The pro air will provide one of the best wakeboard wakes of any direct drive boat. The GT-40 provides plenty of torque when loaded. We typically run around 1000 lbs and have had as much as 1500 and the hole shot is awsome.

However, if you are looking for a crossover boat the air/216 might be a better choice. The slalom wake at 32-35, @15 off does have a nasty little bump. The wake is not as good as the air/206 but is not nearly as bad as the super air.

            Hope this helps

We also have a 99 Pro Air/Python, and the boarding wake is nice even with the stock ballast only. Skiing wake is ok, not like a tourney skier would want, but fine for the rec. skier.
You also get the better handling that a direct drive provides with its more even weight distibution.

PS. Neil I think you PAN/Python is the only other one I've "seen" on the board. Shoot me a PM, I am wondering if you have had any issues with your boat/engine? I have a copy of a manual, but it's from a newer engine model.

If it doesn't already have Perfect Pass, it will be hard to install it because of the step down hull. I have heard it almost impossible.
