    replacement kick panel :(

The multi-day process of installing our heater last spring was interupted when our daughter was born. I had everything done, but installing the vents. So my dad decided to install the vents...wrong.(We both own the boat). He put the holes in the wrong place. and the vents don't fit right.

So my question is: what material do they use for the kick pannels in '02 Air's? And where can I get it? I already need some carpet for projects so I figured I could get enough to cover the kick pannel to. That way it would be much cheaper than getting a replacement pannel from CC.

    Thanks!

It is probably just plywood. If not, plywood would work fine.

It's actually centraboard or something like that. Same material as the coaming pad backing.

Anyone know where I can find some? Or an alternative? I've seen what can happen to plywood and would rather not use it.

I would just use come plywood coated in resin then carpet over it... it would be cheap and really easy to do. No water damage either.

Starboard is another choice. It can be had at most marine stores such as boat us and west marine.

Both my '77 and '93 have plywood kickpanels and they are still original and in perfect shape as they do not really ever get wet. If concerned about rotting, then paint the plywood with bilge paint or epoxy resin prior to carpeting.
