Oil Filter for PCM Excalibur 330

My PCM manual reads PN: R077001, but I am not sure if that will mean anything to my local auto parts store. The current filter is a Max Flow "Mercury" PN 60565 MF4, but I doubt the auto parts store will be able to cross reference that either. If you have a Fram or another more common brand part number to reference to let me know.

Also, PCM manual indicates only 4qts of 5W-40 "SJ". My previous GT40 always took 5.

Use a motorcraft FL-1A filter and 5 Qts oil.

Please don't use a Fram filter.

Here's a good oil filter article, as Jeff says don't use a Fram, Penzoil, and a few others. After reading this and an article on air filters from the Diesel forum it seems that AC Delco air and oil filters are pretty good. I am running a Wix 51515 on my Excalibur right now, the Motorcraft FL-1A is a good one too, Napa, or the Sierra 18-7875.

If you plan to use an AC-Delco filter, as I did, the oil filter part number is a PF-2.

Also, even though the manual states 4 quarts of oil with a filter change, I checked my 2005 196 w/ EX330 oil level after pouring in 4 quarts, and it was a quart low. It takes 5 quarts with a filter change.

Any suggestions out ther for an oil filter other than PCM. Fram, AC Delco, part numbers, etc. Thanks.

The remote oil filter adapter is configured for a Motorcraft FL-1A. The AC Delco equivalent (which I prefer and use on my 2005) is a PF-2.

I am trying to find the correct oil filter for my '02 Air with the 330 excalibur chevy motor. My current filter had the "marine oil" filter and the local Hires can't find a cross reference.

Actually, the MotorCraft filter is FL-1A.

I use NAPA (Wix) on all my diesel and gas engines, never have had a problem. We usually put about 30k on each dump truck per year, with changes at about 10k. I figure if they can withstand heavy truck use, they would be fine in a marine application.

Also know quite a few racers who swear by NAPA(Wix).
