Swapping out the orignal digital gauges.

I have the orignal digital gauges. Some of the numbers are starting to stop working. My friend had the orignal digital gauges swapped out at west coast correct craft because they started doing the same thing my gauges are doing. The gave him the Faria analog gauges. I think he said they charged him $150-200 for the new gauges because he wasent the orignal owner!

I am the orignal owner and the 5 years warranty still applys. Is this thing coverd under warranty??

And If I get the new gauges what do I do about engine hrs. I have 502hrs now is there a way of logging them into the new gauges.

I am also getting the new perfict pass upgrade gauge, So none of my new gauges will show my orignal hrs

    This is my dash

From what I have read from others posts your hourmeter will not be correct unless it's programmed or allowed to run for a 21 days. The answers were in posted questions about used boat hours. Talk to bkhallpass, I believe his 210 has the same gauges, and I think they have swapped once already.

Swapped twice. No charge either time, both within 3 years of purchase. Hourmeter
went back to zero. I have the Ford engine. I'm told no way to check exact hours.
On the Chevy's you can apparently hook up the engines computer and determine the
      real hours.

Under the 5 year warranty they will replace the gauges with the same ones for free.(Teleflex for Teleflex) You don't get the Faria gauges unless you pay, or your dealer is really nice and eats the cost. Most people have the replacement Teleflex go bad also, that's why they order the Faria gauges.

As far as the hours go, there is no good solution. Could figure out what wire/s and voltage is needed to run the hourmeter on the new gauge and run it to the correct amount.

When you get your new Perfect Pass display, once you install the new chip, do a full PP reset (directions in the manual). You'll have the option to enter the current number of hours on the boat into PP at that time. PP will then keep track of the hours, and it will be accurate.

Wasn't there a way to get the actual hours out of the engine computer? Or was that only with certain engines? I thought I remembered a discussion on that out here someplace previously.

I think I read somewhere that PP only keeps hours when it's turned on so it doesn't necessarily keep hours similar to an engine meter. Of course, utilizing PP to keep hours is better than tracking hours manually.

Only the GM-based engines keep hours on their own computer. The GT40 is a Ford.

This thread is making me kick myself that I didn't look into that digital dashboard for sale on EBay!! Yellow_Flash_Colorz: The replacement Faria's look like something off a Bass Tracker (my opinion).

What I was told is that my dealer can swap out the broken gauges for replacment gauges, For free, These will be the same digital teleflex gauges that I currently have.

                Option #2

OR I can pay $150 for the Gauges and $500 labor (5) hrs for them to install the Upgraded "Faria" analog gauges

Now are the Faria gauges worth $650

Make him a deal... Get the Faria gauges and install them yourself, I would say they are worth the $150.

I wonder if they are the same as my gauges?

Are the Faria replacements plug and play?? Or do you need to do some other stuff aside from just hooking them up in the dash.

MY 02 gauges are starting to rot as well.

The Faria Guages work great and take about 2 hours to install. It is a very easy switch and the Faria guages come with step by step instructions. The digital guages are junk.

The Faria gauges are not plug and play, At least thats what WCCC is saying they want 5 hrs labor to hook them up. I dont know if that includes a water test after hooking them up to make sure they work. I dont even know if they woud sell them to you with out installing them. WCCC said that Nautiques is taking a big loss selling the gauges @$150 and this is there way of making it up to you. WCCC sid the new Faria gaugs dont read speed off the Pedo tubes in the back they get the speed from the PP paddle wheel ect ect

                          Grant,
I don't think you'd have a problem installing the gauges considering all that you've done to your boat. $150 is a fair price, my local dealer wanted $250...I ordered from MidOhio.

The Faria gauges are not hard to install, especially if you have PP. Here is a breif summary of the install:

                          1. Remove dash and then the speedo and tach.

                          2. There are a few wires to splice into. All instructions and parts are included.

                          3. If you have PP all you have to do is hook up a "y" cable for the rest of the install. It connects to the PP paddle wheel.
If you don't have PP you need to snake a wire under the floor and install the paddle wheel. Not hard, takes a bit of time, some might not want to do this part.

I would opt for getting Gaffrig Guages from http://www.gaffrigperformance.com/. They are the big guage mfg. for all the big poker run and powerboats.

                              ffmedic,

I believe that would be a misapplication? My buddies offshore racer uses the flooded Gaffrig gauges, they work great in that application but their resolution, size, and graphics would be very out of place on a ski boat.

One comment about the Faria analog speedometer that runs off the paddle wheel, my Signature edition 211 has one. It is way too quick in reaction time and it's non linear. When I slalom ski it jumps from 32-36mph when I pull and I don't think I pull that hard. If it's calibrated for wakeboarding the slalom speeds read incorrectly and VV, at WOT throttle it displays almost 50, wrong. In reality it's not much better than showing that you are moving. I use the digital tach and speedometer on the perfect pass, my analog units are just there filling the holes.

My opinion may be different if I was able to lower the sampling rate of the speedometer, I need to contact Faria.
