97 SN Exhaust Question

My ski buddy just bought a used 97 SN with the GT40 and has about 300 hours. We've noticed that it is always discharging a grayish colored exhaust ring in the lake behind the platform while idling between sets. Anyone have any idea what would be causing this exhaust ring or what you could do to fix it? Thanks in advance. For my money I think the 97 SN is the best value going now when you factor in how well it skis and how it handles in the course now that my buddy filed his rudder. My 03 isn't that much better and cost twice as much!

Can you smell gas? It might just be running a tad rich.

No we don't smell any gas.

Have you been watching your oil level to see if it's burning any?
My guess is still the mixture though.

It could also be a leaky injector flooding one cylinder???
