Need to find out how to remove the driver seat cushion on a 97 nautique. the bottom cushion has a split where your right leg rest and would like to get it repaired over the winter. Also anyone know where is the best place to have the work done? Or can I order a new skin from Correct Craft?

RE: Driver seat removal
On the newer boats (not sure about the '97) you just pull up the bottom cushion and remove the four nuts holding the seat to the frame. Takes about five minutes. You can order a new skin from your local dealer.
This may be of some help, although a '97 may be different.

RE: Driver seat removal
1997 Ski driver seat removal: There are four bolts that hold the seat and slide rail assembly to the seat base, that is fiberglassed into the floor of your boat. Slide the seat all the way forward, and remove the two back bolts, the nuts (nylocks) are on the bottom. It is a stretch to reach the back two nuts, and there is not a lot of clearance to get a wrench, or a socket on them. Slide the seat all the wat aft, and remove the two front bolts and nuts. I think there is a metal cone shaped spacer between the seat base, and the slide rails. Now that the seat is removed from the boat, you can remove the slide rail assembly from the seat. There are two aluminium plates between the bottom of the seat and the slide rail assembly. The seat bottom cushion is is held to the seat by a tongue of upholstery material that is stapled to the bottom of the seat base. I just got a new seat base, and stapled it in, after pulling the upholestry tongue tight. If you lift the new seat cushion up before stapeling it in, it is easier to get the tongue tight enough. Clean up the slide rail assembly, and reinstall it to the seat, with the aluminium plates. Put tham back in the same place each plate came from. The trapezoidal plate goes to the rear on my boat, with the smaller end rear. Put the seat/slide rail assembly back into the boat, and bolt it down putting all the bolts, washers. cone shaped spacers, and nuts. That is it.

RE: Driver seat removal
Think Midwest CC is in the older vinyl business. While at it, i'd consider an upgrade to the flip-up; should be just a bottom cushion & attach to the frame - or something like that. OF\"The voices aren\'t real...but they have some good ideas.\"

RE: Driver seat removal
DanielC, Thanks for the info. I tried to remove the bolts from the tracks but the nuts are too close and thin wall socket won't fit. Your way sounds like it will work. Will try it later today and let you know. Thanks again.

RE: Driver seat removal
97sport, I remember on the bolts that hold the seat assy. to the seat base, that I used the box end of a wrench on the top side, and worked the nuts off with a wrench, or a deep socket, if it would fit, or a normal socket. Even if I got a deep socket to go over the nut on the two back bolts, after the nut went down, I could not get the rachet and socket removed because it was against the floor. On my ski. I removed everything from the passenger underseat storage, layed on my belly with my left arm under the driver's seat, and felt where the two back nuts were with the box end of the wrench. You might be able to get the wrench to stay on the bolt head before you get into position, but you will have to hold it once you start turning the nut on the bottom. If someone can help you hold the wrench on the top back side of the seat, it would help a lot. Remember to slide the seat all the way forward to reach the back bolts, and all the way back to reach the front bolts. i do not know if it is possible to install the bolster seat base like on the 94 and newer boats, but you might want to look into it.

RE: Driver seat removal
Hey guy's just got in from the garage and got the seat off. It was real simple. Preety much as NautiqueJeff said, just lift the cushion up to expose the 4 bolts. to remove the cushion though I had to remove about 30 staples. I will check with Mid Ohio to see about a new skin, If it's something a handy person with a staple gun can change out on his own. Never knew that the cushion lifted up. Thanks for all your help. It's great to know there is a site like this.
