    free motor rebuild

my buddy is a welding instructor at the local college. he is telling me that the automotive class at the college is looking for a project like mine {spun bearing, broken piston,or something along those lines} all i would have to pay for is the parts. but it does kinda make mine the guinne pig. what do you guys think. would you go for it or not? the instructor is suposed to be some motor guru.and my buddy wants to build me a tower too.

I would go for it...the local technical college here does the same thing for their marine engine technology class, and rebuilt a buddy of mines outboard for his whaler. they did a great job, and he only paid parts and he gave the program a "tip" because he wanted to, but he saved a lot of money doing it (got all parts wholesale). Good luck

that sounds like a plan. are you going to cost justify any performance parts (gt-40 heads) since the labor is free? my wife would call that 'tom logic.'

my local ford dealer said that 351 rods are still available if you just need to get one. ( i did. )

are you going to watch the debauchery or just let them have at it. my brother lets a local funny car guru balance and mic all the parts after the machine shop. then my bro assembles it.

you might find a special on the heads. the cheapest i have ever seen them is 250 a side with the small head bolt holes. dim is 300 something with the 1/2" holes.
