I got the replacment Teleflex gauges for my boat because they were starting to fail. I was wondering if I was to hook up 12 volts to the gauge could I start the Hour meter running till it came up to my 512 somthing engine hrs. My Question is What terminals would I have to throw 12 vots or what ever voltage at to get the meter running??? Here is a photo of the back and front of the gauge.

You wouldn't happen to have a pic' of your old gauges that shows what they were doing when they started to fail? I've read that there have been a lot of problems with the originals but not what that problem is. I haven't had a single problem with the gauges on my '02 196. Thanks!Ski on dude!

Grant, can't you monitor the connector with a scope? Start the boat and see on which connector they have the pulse? I know it's a b#tch to work on, but if you can't get any clear suggestions that is the way to do it... i think ;-)
I assume you only have to find the ground, the +12V and the pulse from the rpm (I thought it only monitors when the engine turns more then 600rpm's).230 with ZR6 running on propane

Grant if you look at your plug in the boat that connects to your gauges the one for the tach should have a black, purple, grey, and blue wires going to it. The black wire is ground, purple is power from ignition switch, grey is tach signal, and blue is for lights. but instead of going thru with all this work take a paint marker and write on the back of the gauge that you changed out the gauge on this date and how many hours were on the original and do the same on a peice of paper and sign it and leave it in your owners manual for when you sell it.

The New gauges that I got are on the exchange program. I have to send my orignal gauges back to my dealer so that he can send them back for some more new ones.
Plus I dont like having to look at 2 diffrent gauges to figure out my hr's
The New Perfict Pass gauge has a mode that you can enter in your Hr's Wouldnt it be cool if I could just punch in the Hrs.

Yeah, just being able to enter the hours would be cool but could you imagine how dishonest folks might use that when selling their boats?
Have you tried contacting the Teleflex folks about how to put hours on the gauges?'08 Super Air Nautique 210

Grant, the hour meter on the PP can be reset. If you remove the chip for example, you will lose all information on the PP configuration, including the logged hours. Also, if you were to replace the chip for a newer version, you will lose the hours. It is very easy to program though but I would not use this as a reliable source of information.
