    Waxing "under" Bunks

I don't have access to a lift that I could use to lift my boat off the trailer to clean and wax where my boat sits on the trailer bunks. I'm just curious if any of you has any creative ideas for solving this problem. Thanks.

    RE: Waxing "under" Bunks

I don't. Used to worry about that myself. Than I wondered, who is ever going to
see it. When it sits on the trailer, can't see it. When it sits on the lift, can't see it.
when it sits on my lift, can't see it. So, who is ever going to see it. If I happen to
have a buyer that wants to use a crane to lift the boat, I'm not selling it to him
anyway. I just wax the bottom as best I can about once or twice a year and don't
    worrry about it.

I was wondering that too, I only get to do the sides, just where the trailer fenders aren't covering. I tried going under once, but then dealing w/ the not-so-flat surface got annoying...

Does anybody wax their deck, above the rubrail? It's a place everyone sees the most, is around the most, but I can't imagine getting a buffer on it, or doing it all by hand w/ all those curves... (sry for the hijak)

Yes, I wax the deck, dash, and anywhere else there is fiberglass.

It has been my experience that waxing the bottom of the boat only lasts about two trips to the lake,so I figured it's not worth the trouble.

Abun, definitly wax the deck above the rail. The sun will fade the glass if not protected. Make sure to use a wax with uv protectent. As you stated everyone sees this part of the boat.

If you wax the area of the trailer bunks, don't forget your bow hook when towing. Heard years ago of a person losing his boat when it slid so easily off the bunks. That had to hurt. ER

For 200 bucks, any glass guy can lift it and buff out.

Doesnt waxing the top deck make it "slicker than snot". I dont wax my deck because I figured that I would slip and bust my butt.

Heck yes it makes it "slicker than snot!" Just make sure you don't have folks stand on your gunnels or stick some pads on there for traction.

I never wax the running surface of my boat, something that stuck with me from my boat drag days. Would you wax your slalom ski?

Mike, I would'nt wax a ski but definitly the running surface on the boat. I pick up 3 M.P.H. after I wax the bottom, or drop 300 R.P.M. to run the same speed. I also dock mine for the summer and makes cleaning easier every 5 or so weeks. A neighbor uses Super Slick on his supra and gets better fuel mileage also.

For waxing under the bunks, I borrow the neighbor and rock the boat sideways moving the boat to the guide pole, wax, then position back to the middle.

97 sport you gain 3 MPH on your boat after you Wax it and or Lose 300 rpm's Wow thats pretty impressieve. I wish that would work for me My boat go's 42-43 MPH so that would put me in the 46 mph range??
