99 DD raw water intake thread type?

Hi guys,
I'm looking at trying to install a check valve (sea ****) for the raw water intake of our 99 PAN, and the water intake is on an angle, and if would run into the transmission if I tried to put a valve on there. Has anyone retrofitted this year boat, or one similar? The fitting on there now is a barbed straight fitting, but I don't know what type of thread is on the fitting glassed into the hull.
I am thinking that I could use a threaded nipple if I can get a 45 degree, or I could do two 90 degree fittings, but I'm worried that it would kill the water flow. Any ideas? What type of setup do the later model DD's utilize?

I believe all the thru hull fittings are standard pipe threads... should be able to do a 45 or 90 from loacal hardware store... the raw water pump moves alot of water and I dont think a couple of elbows is going to slow it down much... (there is a limit of course) ..
but be careful with shut off vlvs on the intake as one engine run for more than a few seconds is going to destroy the raw water pump impeller and maybe ruin a good day at the lake... if the warning system were to fail it could get really expensive quick (new shrort block or long if your luck is really running bad)... and there is really no reason to close it off... that I can think of any way...

Thanks for the reply. I'm only worried about being able to shut down the raw water intake if I have some kind of failure of the water intake hoses. Currently, I have no way to shut off the big hole in the bottom of the boat!

I ran a 1973 Century Resorter DD for 31 yrs on the original hoses.... the only time it ever tried to sink on me was when I launched it with that hose disocnnected (I used it for mtc runs at home)... The wife taxied around for 5 plus min while I parked the truck/trailer.... When I got in the boat I heard a funny noise, eng belts slinging water... I had time to remove the engine cowl (much more complex than nautique) and replace the hose before the floor board got wet...(it was close)... The Correct craft hoses are heavy duty (wire wound) and doubled clamped... If your boat sinks I believe the insurance co would pay... if you cook the motor.... you get to eat it...????? maybe a poor pun... hey if it makes you feel better... who am I...
