i think that the solution can only be done with tools that i dont have

if a paper clip and test light can do it, i would really like to know the procedure

    where is the ECU located?

Bump for an old thread - Any updates with this? The same thing is happening to my 2006 Nautique after storing it for the winter.

        Hi.
You have to connect your engine to DIACOM to know exactly what is the SERVICE DATA CODE that is making the red light flash. When you know it, you should follow the diagnostic procedure in the service manual.
If you have not these tools, you may be more difficult to locate your faulty sensor.
But, in my opinion, if the ECU detects a problem is because your engine have a sensor that is not good, a rotor malfunction or a defective coil. The last option is that your ECU is out of his mind ... not very common.
        Good luck!

Thanks Fonseca. I think I have the problem narrowed down, since the LCD on the dash is flashing "IGN FAULT". This happened after disconnecting the MEFI relay to perform the winterizing procedure. The manual calls for removing the plugs and turning the engine over 3-4 cranks to ensure there is no excess buildup of oil in the cylinders.

I am going to take the boat to a local automotive shop to see if maybe they have a scan tool that would work with the boat's diagnostic port. If anyone has other ideas that would be great, thanks!
