    What is the proper size of additional ballast on 99 air nautique or similar?

    Hello everyone, again I am seeking your guidance. I've read a ton of topics on adding additional ballasts to my 1999 pro air nautique. However, after all the reading I would like to see what was the overall consensus on the exact size to custom order for my ski locker and rear locker.

    I have decided to put one full bag in the back locker, instead of the two (Based on what I've read and suggestion from Miljack, Thank you btw). I will be of course adding pumps, thru hulls, etc. But I wanted to see what size was the exact size needed for a custom bag to fit in these lockers without pushing up the ski locker or pushing on the fuel tank in the rear.

      A0128, how did you plumb these into your systems? Or did you add more tru holes and pumps. Why did you chose to do this instead of removing your hard tanks. Im open to any suggestions so obviously its working for you.

        For now I am keeping the hard tanks and supplementing with the sacs. The Elevate pump that comes as part of the package does a great job of filling the sacs in a matter of minutes (actually less time than it takes to fill the hard tanks). By the time we get from the dock to an area where we can start boarding everything is usually full. The rear sac lays inside the trunk compartment on top of the carpeted panel that covers the hard tanks. This also lets me remove the sac if I want to reclaim the storage. Ditto for the floor storage area. The sac fits perfect and we fill it with the Elevate pump. For those times when I want to use the floor storage to hold a softside cooler I just remove the sac.

        For me this was more an experiment to add additional weight in order to see how the wake changes verses a need to add weight because the rider's skill was exceeding the capabilities of the factory ballast, therefore I didn't want to spend the extra money to completely redo the fill / drain system. The kids are at the point where they are jumping wake-to-wake and will likely try to master some flips this Summer. The wake created by the factory ballast + the sacs is more than enough for now. A lot of people confuse the need for a big rampy wake to get big air when in fact it is more a factor of speed to the wake that gets you elevated in the air.

        There are several threads on this forum (and on the CCF forum) from owners who pulled their hard tanks and replaced them with sacs. Going this route you will be able to add larger sacs for more weight. For reference, my ballast weight maxes out at 1,140 pounds (400lbs factory + 370lbs trunk + 370lbs floor).

          Has anybody ever thout of making a contoured bag that mimics the hard tanks? That way you could get the maximum alloted space filled with weight? Or would that just cause issues. I dont really understand why you wouldnt get the most possible weiht by leaving the hard tanks and putting weight on top?

            The v drive sacs work well in the rear trunk at 400 lbs each but yeah the old tanks do a better job using up all the room on the sides. Would be cool to get custom sacs. Not sure how much extra that actually would be

              fly high will do custom sacs to any measurement and port location you want.
