    PP instal Quest

Anyone instal their own PP by replacing the existing Airguide spedo? PP recommends clamping the Airguide input, and I was wondering how most of you have done this. Would folding it over and tightly wire-tieing it work?

    Thanks!

    RE: PP instal Quest

What model PP you using? The first models before paddle wheel used the pitot tube for trick mode. Now a days it uses the paddlewheel for for trick and wakeboard mode. Slalom is handled by rpms. If your pulling out a duel speedo put a golf tee in the hose and tiewrap it in an out of the way place that can get wet should it leak.

I installed 6.5N a few months ago into my 97 Ski. In addition to keeping the pitot in the up position for the speedo I removed, I folded the hose that I disconnected at the back of the speedo and then zip tied it twice. It's been 8 months now and no leaks. I also pulled the hose out from behind the dash and secured it to the steering assembly. That way if it had of leaked, it wouldn't have sprayed the electrical stuff on the nside of the dash but would have just got my feet wet.

Thanks guys. G-man, I am running a PP Plus w/6.5, so RPM's are really the only mode, no paddlewheel. I like the golf tee idea, I will try that. And Pete, good idea running it out from behind the dash module if ever a leak. Thanks for the input!

Todd why aren't you installing a paddlewheel? They tend to be used for boarding and trick speeds.

Installing the paddlewheel is not that hard to do. Yes it is a little scary to dill a hole in you boat but it really is not that bad. I did it to my 2000 Ski. It took me about 10 minutes of saying do I really want to do this before I did. It was a very good addition to the boat. Just make sure you get a very good boat grade sealer.

yeah, G-man, I am planning on upgrading to the paddlewheel at some point. Right now, I use my boat primarily to ski, and so my first objective was to upgrade from my current PP basic cruise to the Plus w/timer, since I already have the RPM servo and basic master module that will accomodate this. Seemed like the easiest and least expensive way to upgrade to what I am looking for right now. Cat-yeah, I think that when I do finally instal the paddlewheel, I will be doing ALOT of measuring, praying, measuring (not all in that order!) Hey G-man, I am thinking that your pin should be G-McGyver with the whole golf-Tee trick!
