just finished installing a second bracket and gas shock to the lid. works great. either shock by themselves won't hold the lid up, but both together do just fine. I got the extra hardware through Overtons.

I'll be interested to hear how the 40lb'er works. I've never had problems with the stock spring holding the door open, but my big beef is that the spring doesn't seem to help slow the door down when closing. As a matter of fact, the majority springs on my 01 only seem designed to hold doors open (rear hatches, ski locker hatch, glove box door). They don't slow the doors down when closing.
Let us know how they work!!'08 Super Air Nautique 210

Well, you have to push down on the lid now to shut it. Effort is required to shut it up until about 1 inch from full closing, then it drops on its own weight with that solid "thud".

Since this thread was revived, Does anyone know if you can get the larger shocks used to raise the seats at NAPA as well? Anyone have part number for these? The ones I need are ones to hold up the observer seat, but I think all of the seat shocks are the same.
Thanks for all the good info on this thread.

This is a very helpful thread, I'm going to get a NAPA Shock this week. Thanks guys for finding something that works. I don't think CC has put a glove box shock in yet on a boat that has actually worked for more than a month. We went through them like water on our 94 and low and behold I'm having issues with them on an '03. I love CC boats but they need to get this right. Nothing is more annoying that propping your lid up with an elbow while digging around for your wallet and keys.
I bet if Jeff polled everyone and asked who has had problems with gas shocks it would hit 90%.Current Boat: 2007 Super Air Nautique 220 Team Edition
