02 or 03 SAN TE gauges?

I'm in the process of looking at some SAN 210 TE, I was told that the 02 gauges are only digital, and the 03 have digital and manual like the new 06s.

Is there problems with the 02s only having digital incase something goes bad. At least if the digital goes out in the 03 the manual is there to work. Just curious if any body has experienced any problems with the 02 gauges.
    thanks, Scott

I had an 02 ski -- speedo quit working within first 40 hours. Had a heck of a time finding replacements, back ordered on warrenty, finally replaced them with Feria anolog gauges. I have talked with others and they had same issues. If the gauges work ok, check to make sure the bezels aren't cracked. That was another issue with Digital

Do a quick search on "Faria" and you will find a bunch of info on the '00-'02 gauges.

do these newer gauges work from air pressure like the older ones, or a paddle wheel?

I had the pick-up tubes removed on my 02 and just had them tie into the paddle wheel for the PP, but my 05 still uses the pick-up tubes and a seperate PW for PP. Not sure of the reasoning since a paddle wheel under the boat is much more effective and accurate IMO

You could use any gauges with enough work. Personally given all the troubles with the 02 Teleflex Gauges, if you're going to upgrade and spend all that time rewiring exc, I'd go for the newer faria analog gauges.

replaced teleflex digital with analog faria

I bought '02 SAN. It came with digital gauges. They worked fine but when in the sun they where sometimes hard to read. And, they just looked modern. I preferred the more classic look of the analog dial with needle gauges. Faria has good replacements.

I installed paddlewheel with wakeboard pro and swithed out digital gauges for analog faria. They look sweet. Like a muscle car dash.

The total $$$ was about $1000 for wakeboard pro with paddle wheel, $175 for faria speedo and tach, and about $350 to have it all installed.

                      Gauges for SAN

Have had no gauge problems with my SAN . . .

And judging by the hassle & cost to fix I'm real happy about that.

Anyone tried any Stewart Warner gauges???

                        RE: Gauges for SAN

OK, the '02 gauges are digital, and they do suck, but if they go out, they can easily be replaced with analog ones.

The '03 up are alos digital, but have an analog face. This means the signal to the gauges is still digital, but it get translated to manually turn a needle. They can also go out if something happens to the electronics, but that is unlikly.

The biggest failure for the '00 to '02 gauges has been the display failing, and not necessarily the ditital controls for them.

                        Just my $0.02

On a side note, my tach went out, and was replaced under warranty with no delay in getting the new part.

CC had a Faria upgrade kit for around 199 for the 2000-2002 boats with dead Teleflex guages. Check with your dealer I upgrade mine and posted the pictures. You need to specify whether you have PP or not . If you do the kit has a Y wire to connect to the PP paddlewheel If not they send the paddlewheel. I would think you could use the upgrade to the Faria guages for any boat as the Tach runs off the engine and the Speedo just needs power and a PW or PP.
