Ive never experienced a problem an any of our Nautiques with a simple T hose connection- no overheats and we get several years out of an impeller. We dont have weak water pressure, but I can see how that could potentially be an issue.

What types of problems have you seen?

As long as you have enough water to keep the engine cool, I don't think a little bit of air will do any harm.

Damage to the engine water pump, and not the raw water pump?

What parts were damaged when you personally experienced the sucking air?

The fake-a-lake plunger slipped up the hull when I jumped into my boat. It probably ran for another 5 minutes with very little water actually going into the motor. When it got loud and started to steam I knew something was wrong. The temperature was still down around 180 but there was not enough water in the exhaust manifolds. The lack of water partially melted the impeller. I ran it at the lake the next weekend but I had to get the boat on plane before the pump would prime. It had enough blade left to pump once primed but not enough to prime itself each morning. Luckily there is very little 5mph zone at my lake.

I would never recommend anyone try to get a boat on plane to get the cooling system to start pumping. The chances of getting a successful result as I did are extremely slim.

I LEARNED THE SAME WAY YOU DO ON THE FAKE LAKE THATS WHY I HATE THAT THING YOU CANT GET IN AN OUT OF BOAT WITH OUT IT FALLING OFF. oops left caps lock on sorry. just had one last week a cc with the white poppet flush valve it stuck he had no cap on the outside thruhaul fitting sucked air under idle thru a no wake zone cooked impeller. ive seen these white poppet valves stick alot thats why i go with the perko. and always make sure u keep a cap on the thruhaul. id say half the boats come in missing them. remember everytime your boat overheats you just took some extra hrs off its life. the best one so far this yr guy comes in said he slung a belt and it got hot but no real bad. he put belt on then noticed he could not move control so he brings it in and i take a look. dude got it so hot it melted the throttle and shift cables.

I just put on my flush-pro, nice system. I like that it is clear plastic and you can see the water flowing. I put mine inline just after the strainer and before the transmission cooler so that I can pretty much flush everything. I have sort of weak water pressure but my boat stayed nice and cool and I gave it a good 15 minute flush. I have an 02 SANTE.

Does anyone use their fresh water flush input line to flow antifreeze into engine (winterize) ?
