Frequent brake bleeding - no leaks

Seems that everytime I look at my trailer brake actuator, it's either not fully returning back to fully extended or I'm finding that it's not actuating the brakes, evident by the thunking when towing.

Now I can check the brake fluid and it's always okay, I'll bleed the brakes and things work good for a few months. I don't have any leaks it just seems that I keep having to do this maintenance.

Are you sure you aren't leaking out of the brake cylinder seals. It is hot enough that there wouldn't be a leak visible as it would vaporize when running. I would check to see if the seals are real grimy or sticky Good luck

If your are not having to add fluid then it is not a brake cylinder. Might be a tired actuator that needs to be r and r. I added fluid for 3 years then was forced to replace my cylinders when one of them got stuck locking the brakes! They are 11 bucks each and easy to replace.
