    Replacing Skins on rear hatch

I just recently purchased a 1999 Air Nautique. This is my first CC and I cant wait to get out on the lake this summer. I want to replace the skin on the rear hatch. I am receiving a sample from Chirstines Marine and was wondering if anyone has done this on their own. The website says that many customers do but I have never attempted this type of repair before. If you have done this is it difficult? I want it to look right and have already contacted a local marine upholster that said they would install the skin for about $100-$200. Just loooking for some help. Thanks!

I would say if you have never done upholstery before then let a pro do it. Seems like $100 - 200 isn't bad. Plus - if you don't have the right tools to do the job, or if the foam underneath needs replacing you'll be spending money anyway, so all of a sudden that $100 - 200 install cost starts to look pretty good.

From a practical point of you, subcontract it. However, some of us enjoy doing it by ourselves. I even sew them myself.
        Some tricks,
        1. First put the skin in the sun in a black plastic box so it gets temperature (more flexible). the worst thing is not pulling enough and get wrinkles in a week)
        2. You need a proper pulling tool (pliers that look like a duck peak) , some nails, hammer and a stapler
        3. go to youtube and look for ANY upholstery tutorial (the technique is the same for chairs, sofas...)
        Hope it helps
