    Just an update... It ended up being my alternator after all, must have been on its way out, which is why I only had 12.1 at the gauge, should be closer to 14
    So I'll let you know if the light comes back on again.

        Just to add to this, I have had the opposite happen where the alarm sounds but the CEL did not come on. I called CC (who was very helpful) and he explained all about the alarm and the CEL and what causes each to trigger and when they would trigger together (oil pressure is one - I believe overheating is another).
