swatguy thanks so much for your help.

I'm more of a wake surfer and just cruise around the lake at speeds around 25 mph or slower but not for long periods of time. Just long enough to get to my surfing destination and the lakes I use around here are small. So I'm more like the 2nd scenario you gave. So my ideal prop would be to get the Acme 2571. I'm looking around to find one but it could take a week or more to find.

Meanwhile my 1579 is being repaired and will be bout two weeks. I'd rather not go back to it but I will if I have no other choice.

My neighbor has offered me the use of his 1235 while I have nothing else to put on my boat. I want to go out this weekend and a couple days next week. So I'm thinking I'll use his 1235 until a 2571 shows up.

I like that plan! Thanks again for all your help!

One question on how to reduce the risk of prop burn. Is it better to...

      1. Drive slower, like wake surfing speeds of 10 - 15 mph
      2. Stop more frequently, like only spin the prop fast for 5 or 10 minutes then stop

My typical behavior is get to my favorite spot (5 minutes at 25 mph), then surfers who surf at about 10.5 mph for a about 5 or 10 minutes, then slow down, go back to pick them up, pull them back up, switch surfers, etc. and repeat. Then we go back to the ramp at 25 mph for 5 minutes.

Honestly you have nothing to worry about whatsoever running that prop with the small window you’re going to be doing it in. You should be perfectly fine. I wouldn’t sweat anything. Toss it on there , enjoy the instant holeshot torque and go have fun. That will give you an idea on what to expect from the 2571
