RE: PCM fuel injected or not

1994 is one of the years where they offered several versions of the 351:

    240HP standard 351 (carb)
    285HP ProBoss (carb)
    300HP ProSki (Throttle Body EFI)
    310HP GT40 (Multiport EFI)

The 255HP Pro-Tec (carb) motor may have been offered in 1994 also. You most likely have the ProBoss or the ProSki TBI, but its tough to tell without a little more info. If you take a pic, Im sure it could be identified.

RE: PCM fuel injected or not

Why would they offer so many different motors in a single year?

        TR Benj,

I do not believe the 310HP GT40 was offered until 95. ICBW. BKH

Regardless of your engine, Perfect Pass will work fine (even if it's carbureted).

How can you not know if it's carb or EFI? Have you ever opened the engine cover? The EFI looks like this. http://store.summitracing.com/largei...t=TFS-51500004

The TBI system could be mistaken for a carb system at a quick glance if you didn't know what you were talking about. Now, the MPI system is tought to mistake.

it should have a sticker on the valve cover or hood with specs. The GT-40 was available in late 1994 when TBI stopped being offerred due to troubles. I liked those carbed ProBoss motors, very reliable and strong.

The throttle body injection was not the best deal in 1994, they had their share of problems, if it isn't multi-port injected I personally would take the carb over the throttle body. IMO. The ProBoss and the GT-40 are great engines!!

You may not need to open the engine cover. Is there an "EFI" decal on the side of the boat?

                      HP's for 94 SN

                      TRBenj,

My 94 SN has the Carburated ProBoss and boat title claims 300 HP. I posted a question on correctcraftfan.com about engine types and HP's for this model year Nautique.

Just curious how certain you are of the engine models and associated HP's you stated. The concensus varied but the Carb and TBI versions were both 300 HP.

Either way I'm happy w/mine. Runs and skis great.

                      Thanks.

                        RE: HP

I have the '95 PCM ProSki TBI engine. I never absolutely determined the HP of the engine, but believe it to be somewhere between 285 and 300 HP. The engine does NOT have the GT-40 heads. The TBI is manufactured by Holley for PCM and is 950 CFM with 4 injectors (progressive). Consequently, It breaths well and can dump a ton of fuel. Other than idling a bit rich (normal) it runs very well.

Forgot to mention I added Perfect Pass Digital Pro to this my carburated ProBoss 94 and it works great. No problems what so ever.

After a little research, I I think I was mistaken. While I believe the 92-93 Probosses were 285 HP ('92 brochure confirms this), it appears that the '94 Proboss had 300 (300+ according to the brochure). I am not sure what changes were made that added those ponies.

I am surprised to hear that DavidF's boat doesnt have the GT40 heads- I thought all the TBI's were the HO motors!
