216 freshwater temp gauge not working

I've owned my 216 for three years and my freshwater outer temp gauge has never worked. stays at a fixed temp all the time. I ordered a new sending unit that amazingly enough can't find where this housing goes. I only see two options that connect to the lower hull. One the pinwheel and the other the depth pinger.
I feel real stupid so I'm sure I'm missing something if anyone sees my issue.

Can you post a pic of what they sent you. Do you have a inline sensor in the raw water intake hose between the hull pickup and the strainer? I have heard the temp sensor is part of the paddle wheel also, although I am not certain if that is true or false.

This is what nautique parts sent me. Looks like a engine plug unit I know. Figured I'd find this easy but it doesn't even match up to my block unit either.

I've checked for a unit from the water pickup like you said but found nothing. I'm afraid of messing with the wheel or depth unit unless I know what I'm looking for.

On my 210, my water temp sensor is located on a tee in between the water intake and the strainer. It looks like the same one you got from Nautiqueparts.

Yep, it is in the intake line for the water that goes into the engine for cooling.
