2014 SAN 210 Engine Cover Problem

Just got my new 2014 SAN 210 in the water and noticed that the engine cover on the port side does not sit flush. Starboard side is flush. This is casuing the storage cover on the port side to also set incorrectly. Moves up and down when you walk on it. Nothing in the way. Looks like a clear defect. My dealer has another new 210 with the exact same issue and is looking into it. Pictures attached.

Anyone else had this same problem?

I believe that the silver knob that the hatch latch locks onto can be adjusted. I would have to get out and look at my boat, but I believe on the base there is a locking nut, if you loosen that, you should be able to turn in the knob to lower the adjustment/latching point. I have heard of a few boats where this had to be adjusted lower as the hatch didn't lock tight and made noise. I believe by adjusting this down, it would allow the hatch to lower further and be flush. -Good Luck

Thanks Dandy. Although you can adjust the latch as you suggest, that's not the issue here as the hood bubbles up in the middle. I wish it were an easy fix. I am afraid it's a manufacturing defect but still hoping for an easier fix.

Have you had any luck in rectifying this issue?

Replied to your PM but try adjusting latch first. From that picture though, and if it's only on one side, you probably need a new engine cover. Nautique covered mine under warranty.

I am glad this post is here! I am having the same issue and Nautique denied my claim. Said it "must have warped due to heat"!!! Uhhh, it's an engine hatch, should it not be designed to take heat. Best part is, the cushion was mounted crooked which tells me it never was correct from the factory.

I hope you can get that covered under warranty. That would driven me nuts. I'm surprised QA/QC at Nautique let's something like that leave the factory.

Yes but kind of a pain. Warranty covered but because I bought boat in Ohio and live in Virginia, I had to pay my local guy to install it.

So ive changed the hatch but since worked out that it is not only heat causing but the strength of the main strut. With the same size strut installed on both sides and removing the small one balances the hatch and is uniform on both sides.
