2002 sante rear locker no power - does not open

Hi Guys, On the starboard side of my boat the power button for rear locker beside the engine compartment does not work. It seems there is no power what so ever and it is really annoying to have to manually open it via by opening the engine compartment cushion and manually reaching around to unlock it. The port side works perfect. The "Click" happens when i press the silver button. How would you suggest I go about checking this. is it a fuse, loose wire etc .. let me know what you guys think.

Does the release on the back side of the hatch work? The one you get to from the platform?

Are you saying there is a release from the transom side? The back of the boat. The only release i knew about was the silver button located between the drivers seat and the back seat on the inside side of the boat ... The only way I can open the rear locker is to manually reach around and flick the latch with my hand

There are releases for each side on the back too. That's how you can open those compartments from the platform. Try those. That'll tell you if the switch is bad or if there are other issues.

I never noticed those. I know there are some differences from the 2002 sante to the 2003 sante. i will definitely check it out ...

Didn't they slightly change the transom from 02-03? I'm thinking the 02 models didn't have the rear buttons because the transom was shaped like 01 and doesn't have that the same ledge where the switches are. Could be wrong though.

Since you can manually open the compartment try looking to make sure something hasn't come loose at the actuator. Follow the wires back to the switch and check for good connections there as well. I think there is a relay that operates these latches. Mine are just near the fuel filler lines on the underside of the gunwale. It could be the switch, wiring, relay, or breaker has tripped. Check for voltage at each with a multimeter. Its not a complicated system so diagnosis should be fairly straight forward.

Yep, there are relays there for sure. I had to replace one on my '03.

On my 2002 the buttons are located on the transom further out from the centre as shown above.
