98 GT40 No Spark

Hi All,

I have a 98 Sport Nautique GT40 2nd owner and for over 10 years no troubles.Put a new battery in this week, Skied earlier this week ran great, went to ski the course this morning and it would not start just would turn over. Checked the relays, fuel pumps are fine checked for spark and nothing, plugs are wet with gas. I pulled the cap and rotor which i replaced last year and some corrosion in there and cleaned all the contacts. Still no spark. Not sure if its the coil or something else, thought i would check here before i started ordering things i dont need. I appreciate any insight

I believe the lanyard being disconnected will kill the fuel pumps, not the spark, but it is an easy thing to check. Any chance that's it?

If you have the 50 amp breaker and the extra wire at the battery it might have come loose. I'd check that 1st since you just messed with the battery.

I only have a thin gauge purple extra wire going to the battery that powers the stereo. Thanks for the reply

Check the pip(profile ignition pickup) sensor. Is it loose or does it have flakes of debris on it from the corrosion on the dizzy(distributor). The computer won't turn on spark unless it can find cylinder number one. Also reference the manual section and start working the no start diagnostics steps.

Is new battery good? When cranking you need over 9 volts for the computer to work.
