    Stuffing box

I need to either tighten up the stuffing box in my 2004 SANTE V-drive, but can't break the lock nut loose. First question is, is it standard or left hand threaded? Any tricks to getting this nut loose?

Here is the information I found in my manual (2005 SANTE). I also did a search in the manual for the word "stuffing" and it stated that it is right hand threads.

I just did mine on my 220 2007 and it was a pain in the *** to get to...but easy once you were in there. get this stubby wrench, it makes it way easier.

on my V-drive, the front nut tightens to the right and the locking nut to the left.

      Good luck!

So today I took the back seat out for the third time and worked on this. Finally, just as I was about to give up, the locknut broke loose. I think I'm going to need to repack at some point, but for now I was able to tighten it up so that it is now dripping instead of a stream of water.

For anyone trying to do this on a 2004 SANTE V-drive, it is a left hand thread.
